Carroll Community College
Getting a college education can be one of the most important experiences in a person’s life, young or old. And while most students prefer to have their college experience with bigger state schools, there are also smaller community schools that everybody can avail and afford to attend. These schools may be more accessible, but they still provide the same quality education as most of the schools. In the state of Maryland, among the best of these schools includes the Carroll Community College.
Carroll County Community College is a two year Community college found in the county of Carroll in the State of Maryland. The school started when the locals of the Carroll County expressed interest in creating a local college. The Carroll Board of Commissioners took interest and tried to look for opportunities, even assigning a team to conduct a special study during the early 1970’s.
Around the same time Catonsville Community College got hold of the study and presented the county with a proposal. The proposal was sent to the Carroll Community College Advisory team so it could be evaluated and recommended for a community college. Soon after that, a draft community college service agreement was sent to Catonsville Community College. Then in 1976, Carroll County entered a 3 year contractual agreement with Catonsville Community to create a branch campus in the county of Carroll. The college was green lighted and the College started its first classes with over 750 students and more than 1500 course registrations.
In 1992, the MHEC or the Maryland Higher Education Commission allowed the college at Carroll to start the process for the school to become a 2 year Community College and achieve degree granting status. Later that year, the college met with the MSCHE or the Middle States Commission on Higher Education to receive accreditation as a degree granting 2 year college.
